The MWA2450MH160W tunable, microwave frequency amplifier for minimally invasive surgery, delivers between 60W and 160 Watts of continuous wave power at 2450 MHz microwave frequency. Alternating high frequency MW current, unlike RF, causes water molecules to vibrate within living tissue. This vibration also results in localized heating only within the tissue surrounding the MW probe, and eventual controlled cell death in that vicinity. Unlike RF Ablation, MW Ablation does not require an electrical path. Like RFA, MWA surgery is also suited for the ablation of smaller cancerous tumors, and a number of other conditions requiring minimally invasive surgical approaches.
