UBS’ C-Band solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) module is built using the latest GaN transistor technology. The highly efficient design is the ideal building block for SSPAs used in SATCOM applications. It offers up to 100W of saturated power with maximum reliability and long service life.
The SSPA module is a compact, field-replaceable system component, designed for installation in an indoor rack-mount tray or weatherproof outdoor enclosure. The SSPA module must be force air-cooled and powered by an external 24 VDC power supply. The SSPA module features a digital temperature compensation system that regulates the RF signal level within a +1.0 dB window over the entire operating temperature and frequency range. The SSPA module also features monitoring and self-protection circuits including over temperature, over current and overvoltage. Additionally, every GaN output transistor if fully protected against potentially harmful reflected power caused by antenna mismatches.
