Description and Application

 

The UBS Universal Modulator Series utilizes the innovative UBS Universal Waveform engine, supporting all world standards for mobile and terrestrial digital broadcasts. The core function of the Universal Modulator is to modulate a MPEG-2 transport stream, CMMB multiplex stream or ISDB-T/TB multiplexed TS (input) onto an ATSC, CMMB, DTMB, DVB-T/H, or ISDB-T/TB compliant spectrum (output) in accordance with the rules for channel coding and modulation specified in the specific standards for each waveform. Using the latest technology, UBS has developed a direct conversion process that allows the Universal Modulator to provide an RF output from 40 MHz to 1 GHz with superior shoulders and MER. This open architecture design enables carriers to take advantage of a proven, robust platform, while designing networks to meet current and future broadcast standards. This DVU 5000D also incorporates UBS’ Adaptive Linear and Non-linear Digital Pre-correctors and provides a range of intuative signal measurements.
